Ben Bartolome ’16

Ben Bartolome, born in New Orleans to Puerto-Rican and Filipino parents, received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Yale in 2016 and is currently receiving his M.S. in Analytics from Georgia Tech. He was a low-income student who advocated strongly for the FGLI (First-Generation/Low-Income) community, and served as a first-year counselor in Trumbull College and an Edward A. Bouchet fellow. He also was active in the La Casa, STARS (Science, Technology and Research Scholars) and FSY (First-Year Scholars at Yale) communities.

Since graduation, Bartolome has contributed to the national chapters of both 1stGenYale and the Yale Latino Alumni Network since they were launched in 2016 and 2019, respectively. In addition, he has been an active participant in the Yale Club of Washington, DC, and a regional leader of the DC Chapter of 1stGenYale.

Professionally, Bartolome first worked as an investment analyst at a small energy-focused proprietary trading shop and then as a data scientist at the Navy Federal Credit Union in Vienna, Virginia. He is now the co-founder and CEO of Walkthrough, a fintech startup dedicated to making financial wellness and guidance accessible to anyone who needs it. He was appointed to the YAA Board of Governors in 2020 and currently serves as its Vice-Chair.
