Former Board Member
Elvira Duran, was born in the Southwest (New Mexico) and grew up in Los Angeles, California. She called Jonathan Edwards (JE) home while at Yale and is a proud Spider for life. JE SUX!! At Yale, Duran double-majored in Sociology and Political Science.
As an undergraduate, she served as a JE Rep on the Yale College Council, a Class Officer on the JE College Council, Co-Chair for the JE Social Activities Committee, JE Buttery Manager, a T.I.E.S. tutor, and Rumpus Magazine writer/photographer. She received the JE Master’s Prize her senior year for her dedication to community building efforts.
As an alumna, her involvement with Yale Latinx alumni began as part of the Reunion Committee for the Yale Latinx Alumni Reunion in 2012. Co-Chairing the Program Committee showed her how inspiring and powerful it can be to bring Latinx Yalies (and their supporters) from across all years and schools together to explore and discuss issues the Latinx community faces. Duran's alumni service includes: Yale Day of Service Co-Chair, Yale Alumni Association (YAA) Board of Governors member, Reunion Co-Chair for her Class, YaleWomen's Council-member, YaleWomen CT Planning Committee, YAA At-Large Delegate, and a member of 1stGenYale.
Duran is currently a Senior Healthcare Consultant and real estate entrepreneur.
