Organized in collaboration with Yale Alumni Service Corps (YASC), join Paulo Barreiro ’12 MEM, founder of Cachoeira, a local socio-environmental company, for a Yale Day of Service, virtual community vegetable garden.This session is part of an environmental and arts education program for children living in marginal neighborhoods of Serra Grande in Southern Bahia.Come learn more about the project, find out ways to get involved, and interact with the local children who will be recycling and planting, and drawing their activities. You are also welcome to share your own community garden story or other experience.
Cachoeira is a socio-environmental company founded in 2016 specialized in the design, implementation and monitoring of cultural and nature educational experiences for different audiences. Based in Southern Bahia, Brazil, a region with the greatest biodiversity of vascular plants in the world, Cachoeira seeks to offer educational experiences in an organized, meaningful, thematic, and unique way. They develop each activity in partnership with grassroots groups and associations, such as Serra Grande Community Based Tourism, Small Farmers Association, institutions that support sustainable development, and schools and universities in the region and abroad.
