Zenaida Aguirre ’24 | Student Deputy

Zenaida Aguirre (she/her) is a current junior in Branford College studying Ethnicity, Race, and Migration with a concentration in Immigration Studies. She is the Deputy Director for YLAN looking forward to meeting Latine alum and increasing engagement.

Zenaida is a first-generation student from Los Angeles, where her Mexican family resides. Zenaida has used her studies to advocate for immigrant communities across the US including in New Haven, where she volunteers with Havenly, a cafe managed by immigrant and refugee women. Her goal is to use the legal field to support immigrants everywhere.

On-campus, she is president of ¡Oye! Spoken Word, an undergrad representative in the Poorvu Center’s Student Advisory Board, and an Academic Strategies Mentor for first-generation low-income sophomores. She also choreographs and performs with Sabrosura, the Latin dance team.
