Dr. Marcela Guerrero: Vida Americana at the Whitney
05/05/2020 @ 5:30 PM

Wonderful talk with the Whitney Museum of American Art Assistant Curator, Dr. Marcela Guerrero, about the influence of Mexican artists on American art showcased by the exhibition Vida Americana: Mexican Muralists Remake American Art, 1925-1945.
Dr. Guerrero explained that the exhibition’s closing date will likely be extended into the Fall (it was previously set to run Feb-May 2020 in NYC). Dr. Guerrero also emphasized that the images shown during this talk are only a fraction of what’s on display at the museum. Many works on display either haven’t been seen in the U.S. or have not been seen in a very long time, so this exhibition really is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Thank you to our wonderful Yale alumnae, Wendy Maldonado D’Amico ’93, Cristina Gonzalez ‘94, and Isabella Lores ’12, for leading the discussion and live Q&A, and to those behind the scenes (Mari Hinojosa’94).
